ANOTHER REASON why I didn't like the way Hagaren ended:
Ed's in Germany and Roy's, well, whatever that country is called, that's where he is. Different WORLDS. (And Hughes is still dead.) It fills me with regret to see the series end this way because now that it has, what are the fans going to do about canon? Ignore it? Make up their own? I mean, it's nice to have Ed here, but the old way isn't going to work anymore. There is no more need and no more room to speculate, in one of those after-series fanfics, about a happy ending where Ed still has his automail but Al has his body back, Ed and Roy are fucking the bejeezus out of each other, and Hughes is alive to cuddle Roy and his family. They can still screw during the series, when Ed is, oh, TWELVE, but pedophilia is just not the same. (HughRoy has a great deal more time to work with, but the problem with that couple is that it does have to end. Gut-wrenchingly. And then there's the adultery.) I am mourning the loss of hope that these stories could happen. It's like the anime people (maybe that rat bastard director, but I'm feeling benevolent today) have officially said, "Party's over, kids. Pack up and go home now." And it's SOOOO NOT FAIR.
And you want to know a secret? I love RoyEye because I love Roy. Hawkeye's a great match for him, but...she kind of bores me. So yeah, I'm kind of dissatisfied with the way those two ended up, too. I much prefer everybody hanging around together and having sex rather than set couples. (Which is to say, no, no AlWin. It'd be cute, and it's convenient if Roy and Ed are going to get married, but EdWin is the one with a spark and you know it.)
