You know how people sometimes have elements in RPGs? Like, someone can use water and another person is fire or something. I realized today that I'm uncomfortable with that when the powers come from an outside source, or something that isn't the character themselves. Chrono Trigger, for instance, is okay, not only because Chrono Trigger is very special, but because the characters are already their various elements. I didn't like the idea of elemental SWORDS in Tales of Destiny, and I'm still a little leery about how they went and met all the elemental holy beasts in Tales of Rebirth. Wild Arms 3 would have made me want to break something, except you can switch the mediums around and that's fine. (And...because of Jet...fufu...right, back to the subject now!)
I also don't like it because if you make the healer bimbo water and the dumb hero fire then you almost never get a chance to use water to kill things. Extremely unbalanced. This happened a lot in Tales of Eternia: all the healing spells are water, and that charges up Undine a lot so you hardly ever get to summon Volt. OOPS.
Now I really want to play Chrono Trigger again X_X I wonder if there's anything I can do to make my experience more enjoyable, like taking screenshots and mocking them or talking about how much I like Crono/Schala. Mmmm, Crono/Schala. I read this fanfic once, where they were in 12,OOO BC in the snow and Crono wanted to get Marle and Lucca's attention, so he started peeing what he wanted to say in the snow, and then he ran out and it was funny. Oh, and that fic where Magus became a rock star and had sex with Lucca. And that fic where Lucca found extra attachments on Robo! Golly gee, was that fun.
EDIT: Roy and Ed in those outfits in that picture I said I wanted to pimp is in the last entry. Hint.
