I've decided that making cakes with two 8" pans is actually too much to eat for me and my fambly, but they're, like, OMG so fun to decorate, and put together. And they're pretty.
Interestingly enough, I actually prefer to eat cake as is, because I don't like most frosting (except for whipped cream). I just get such a charge out of decorating them I do that, too. Then I make other people eat it. ^^* I would not make cakes if I didn't have my fambly to deal with them for me.
