(no subject)

I just realized I recently started an entry with a rant about tanuki furries and then cut myself off in mid-sentence to talk about my illness (which probably made me look a lot sicker than I really was at the time). I never finished! So I will now. Because I am in a ranty mood.

I went looking for pictures of real tanuki and got a couple of ones of furries (along with a bunch of shocked-bystander pictures of roadkill in Japan. Sometimes I think the US is right and they really are weird and I'm just crazy). I was annoyed by these. First of all because of the perennial, "just because it's in Japanese doesn't automatically make it cool" thing (unless it's like, that excruciatingly-Japanese thing with sakura and swords and the full moon, and you must already be Japanese or terribly educated for that to work). Also, tanuki isn't actually the Japanese version of a raccoon. They're different species, and actual raccoons are cuter and more cuddly. The literal translation of the word for "raccoon" in Japanese is "washing bear" (that has nothing to do with this, I just think it's adorable). AND. These "tanuki" people were wimmin. THEY DIDN'T EVEN HAVE GIANTASS TITTAS TO MAKE UP FOR THE LACK OF BEANBAG BALLS. I was fiercely disappointed. Kids these days. The end.
