I had a big entry about cake and then I clicked on the wrong link and my browser exploded AND I LOST ALL OF IT. I HATE YOU.
EDIT: I ESPECIALLY hate the site that made my browser crash. I'm onto you, bitch. Even though I don't remember which one you ARE. Uh.
Right. So now it's time for something not everybody may know about me. Every once in a while, I like to look at cake.
I don't mean in the weird, RoyEd cake way (though that's fine, too). Cake itself is not a turn-on. I explained this to Yang yesterday: it's like Yukari with the oseibo catalog. Matsuzaka beef, zuwai crabs, fugu! It's kind of nice, just lookin' at it all. And no, I won't ever get it for myself, either.
And so I reveal to you my secret stash of links that keep me going when I have to look at cake. I have lots of links to Japanese sites here because they do a much better job with fussing over their desserts than Americans do. It's not about the RoyEd. Entirely. None of this Martha Stewart, country style, pile-your-strawberries-on-a-biscuit-and-call-it-done crap. Ho no.
The ugly AMERICAN cakes. But some of them look REALLY GOOD. This and Bob-an down there are my number one targets for compulsive bookmarking.
CakePia. Put ケーキ in Google and this is the first result. I have no complaints.
Kyo Cake House. These people are IN China. And never fear! If a purple yam cake makes your mouth water, there is nothing wrong with you. In fact, you are invited to Hotaru's birthday party, where Haruka will attempt feed you and make Michiru mad.
Megu: I am the most well-behaved dog Pocky has EVER seen. Or the cake is made out of plastic. Heh, sorry.
Bob-an's cake section. This is a big site run by some important food company like Aji-no-moto. They have SO MANY RECIPES. Their curry is, disappointingly, real, but that's a lot of cake.
A collection of Christmas cakes, sorted by the maker. Finding Christmas cake sites is kinda hard this time of year. I have to think that any country that puts chocolate on an already frosted cake is definitely on the right track. And now this is where I make a joke about not being 25 yet.
OOPS HOW DID THIS GET IN HERE!!!!1 Ahh. It's not even that good, Roy's face looks funny, but I just don't have enough pictures of this kind. This is the only one I made myself. SOMEBODY GIVE ME MORE ROYED WITH CAKE.
Cake embroidery. I don't know. I've seen something like this before, but that was just drawing lace on wax paper with frosting and then putting it on your cake. This is so much more elaborate.
午後のひととき. There's all these RECIPES in the Tea Time section. This site gets big extra points for being one of those run by a person who makes a bentou for someone every day and takes pictures. Yes, I love looking at bentou, too.
ケーキ占い. Plug in your birthdate and it will tell you what kind of cake you are. It says I'm a tart.
