Is it wrong that I want this? I could put omusubi in it! And if I got a Kakashi lunch box, I could make silhouettes of naked women on the rice with nori!

I'm really just showing myself to give book reports on books that nobody knows and are frankly not worth it. Unless you're me?

Shirogane no Keiyaku is a story about Shirayuki, a girl in a fantasy world who is suddenly fucking surrounded by eligible bachelors. She has lots of "big sisters," but they're already dead when the book starts and even more dead by the end, so basically the only girls are 1. Shirayuki 2. Shirayuki's servant Kano, who is old and has a big nose. Shirayuki's purpose is to become some kind of priestess-queen, save the world Shinjoukoku, and to never fall in love with a human, though I'm hope she doesn't fulfill that last one. (There are so many deserving humans here, and the angst would be terrific.)

Shirayuki has an irritating tendency to blink and not talk when people explain things to her, perhaps as a way of acknowledging them without opening her mouth (which might not be as proper or something), but she's not. You know. That bad, for a Mary Sue...surrounded by four sexy mennnnnnn with (vaguely) elemental powers. In any case, it's enough for me to want to order the rest of the series this book begins, for the story. I'm sure someday I'll know better.

Lenten Rose is a series of "short" mystery stories. It kicks off with a sort of admonitory tale: admit that you depend on other people emotionally, or your friends will kill each other for the love of an androgynous visual-kei pop star. Also includes outrageous cliched "you cannot live alone!!!" proselytizing to suicidal middle school girls, HURRAH! AND I predicted the important plot twists, which means I really only enjoyed this book for the fact that I bought it, I can read it, and the art is kind of sweet. The next story includes an incredibly dainty Sue in goth-loli gear, OBOY OBOY. Here's hoping the author gets into their swing. I sincerely hope so because I still have two books of this left, and I will not forgive myself if I cannot read them. This does appear to be a series, but I don't know if there are books that I don't have already. If I were to buy them, it would only be because I am twitchy and really like to have everything in a series when I start buying it.

Here is my sideways din-din, miso nikomi udon. (Please ignore my pajama-clothed waist.)
