Maybe it was, oh, last Tuesday night? When a thunderstorm came to town. I was in the kitchen getting something to eat when there was a particularly loud bolt. A moment later, the lights dimmed---the power went out for a second. I wasn't expecting this sort of nonsense, but in fact we seem to get very loud thunder and hits near the house more often than normal. We all have our theories as to exactly what it is that's attracting the lightning (the are several tall trees around our house). Or maybe it's just bad luck that on Tuesday night, we lost the second ethernet adapter to lightning in 12 months.

Normally I would have coped by connecting through the laptop, but for some reason I couldn't until tonight. Instead we bought a new ethernet PCI card for my computer. Everything with the installation was going fine until it demanded to be configured. ...actually, nothing had been going fine. I was really keyed up and frustrated and tired, and my parents were tired too so they couldn't help me, but I kept going because I wanted my interbutt. The breaking point came when "net diag" wasn't doing what the instructions said it would. I started bawling and my parents had to comfort me.

Our solution was to hook the laptop directly up to the cable modem. That's right, our wifi network is acting squirrely too.

Let's see, what else? I'm in the market for a copy of PSP Harutoki 2. Does anybody want to trade with me? I have the PS2 version.
