The disadvantage of easy writing courses is that they are more likely to be taught by crazy people. I got a C in freshman English. (Everyone in the room who finds it likely that I wrote essays at a below average level for a college freshman four years ago, raise your hands. I did not care for that teacher) Then again, froshling classes also attract the best profs- the one who are brilliant and love fresh young faces. I had a great freshman history class. It's a very mixed bag.
