Even if you had 9 hours of music, remember to consider that you need a 2gb of storage for your PSP if you wanted to take it all along with you.
An NDS is a lot of fun, I think, compared to the PSP in terms of gaming, so if it's games you're after, that may the better choice. If you buy a PSP and are interested in running homebrew software, then check the version number of the firmware before purchase (if possible, get one with a firmware number no higher than 3.03).
With that and a firmware flash to some custom firmware, I've been watching videos and reading ebooks/comics scans on my PSP. The screen is awesome :D
