In Japan
(22:39:47) Olive: we will have to have
(22:39:50) Olive: five meals a day
(22:39:55) Olive: there is no other choice
(22:40:01) Robin: IF WE MUST. OH DEAR. HOW AWFUL.
(22:40:05) Robin: >:DDDDD
(22:40:43) Olive: I swear I will eat nothing but lettuce for a week afterwards if only some higher power will grant me an abnormally huge stomach and appetite for this one week
The old Japan entry
Clearly there will be a heavy food bent to this trip. Start figuring out what and where you want to eat now. Also figure out what you want to see and buy. I personally don't plan to "sightsee" as much as I plan to "eat" and "spend money like water on fannish things".
I still want to see:
Tsukiji fish market
IDEALLY, a Takarazuka performance
Akihabara, specifically whatever and maybe a maid cafe
A quick turn around Jinbouchou
Hachiko/109/Shibuya in general
Tokyu Hands
Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building No. 1
Takeshita doori
Ueno park, specifically Shinobazu no ike and Bentendou
Ikebukuro, specifically Milky Way Cafe Terrace, Ice Cream City, and Otome Road
ADDED: Nakamise-doori
My guidebook says Isetan caters for larger frames, Daimaru's site says there's a section for larger sizes, and Keio has a "Lilac" range of clothing in larger sizes.

I...don't know where to get haori either. XD I just figured it'd be nice to have one to mooch around in come winter.
I don't really know any doujinshi places, either, so...yeah. XD Will we have parental units with us when we go shopping in places like that?
I doubt MP and Kithal could just up and fly to Japan because we're all "Hey let's meet up! :B" but I can certainly ask. XD

Do you want one of those haori they wear at festivals, or one with a normal pattern, or something that isn't too festive? I think if we tracked down a store with used kimono then you could get one at a reasonable price.
Generally all the volume and variety are at doujinshi events, like Comike. Animate Ikebukuro, for instance, carries some doujinshi, but their stock isn't especially large. If you just want teh gay pr0n, you might have more luck with non-fan-published works.
