Hm, did your PSP come with 2.82, or did you upgrade it yourself?
I'm asking because there's a different revision of PSP hardware that has to be downgraded in a different way, before you can use a custom firmware to run homebrew software. It's a little technical and might take a bit of reading through. Make sure you check what version your PSP is first, by referring to this picture:

(Note: the picture is a bit outdated, you can actually downgrade TA-082 PSPs now, so don't worry about that.)
