Errr I would like to warn you that Noein is not quite a pacifier anime. There's at least one - no wait, I think two - character deaths of good guys I can think of. And I haven't finished it, but it seems like it'll end well. If you'd be interested in a manga that makes me personally feel better with its honobono cuteness, I recommend コーセルテルの竜術士. Which I talk about too much but itissofreakingcute. Also guaranteed to have no more drama than angsty pasts and the occasional unrequited crush.
(Toki no Daichi used to be my honobono fix until it turned into the tragic fantasy from hell and then the author stopped writing it. It's still unfinished; personally I pretend the later volumes don't exist.)
I understand what you mean there ^^; I quit watching Gurren Lagann after a bunch of episodes and I heard the character I liked the most was being a twerp. I'll wait and see how the story ends before catching up.
Actually I haven't played the remake (on account of being broke)... I was talking about the original, er, defining moment. I really am a wuss about this kind of thing though x_x
