SERIOUSLY.

HOW COULD AN FMA FAN LOOK AT THIS

AND NOT GO, "HI AL, NICE KIMONO. CAN I BE YOUR PRETTY PRETTY PRIESTESS? 8D" Remember that in this game you can totally go on dates with him in feudal Kyoto, and he will make speeches---flowery speeches---about how you are his angel and his light and all that shit.

...what? You mean normal fans don't compare every anime character they see to FMA characters?

Anyway,

Yoritada: I'm not impressed by his personality but man is he attractive. He really has to stop pushing up his hair and smiling like that. How is a priestess supposed to work under these conditions? Has Shinichirou Miki been in any Tales games? I feel like I recognize this voice but I totally cannot place it.

Katsuzane: Angry delinquent, doesn't remind me of Duo. I will develop this subject in my next playthrough.

Isatoface: A more significantly more appealing Inori. Prejudices have been toned down and made more convincing, natural sweetness has been preserved, attractiveness has improved. Oh, and the still for the ending where Inori and Karin come back to our world knocked the wind out of me. His hair. How could you do that? It's not fair. NOW I HAVE TO LUV YOU MORE.

Akifumi: As you have seen above, at first I was like YAY AL, but he's actually less mischievous and more squishy, and then he started reminding me of Shimon...that made me like him a lot less. He's still cute when he blushes, though.

Yukitaka: Having nothing to do with certain tennis men, I have little interest for the megane subset, except for when the glasses are just dressing up a character I already want to bang (i.e. Roy Mustang). This is different from Yukitaka, who has glasses because it's a central moe. I dunno, not for me. (On a side note, I wish there were more guys with glasses who broke the stereotype and were loud jocks.)

Hisui: PIRATE. Not kidding. I dunno, though, he lacks softness. The only thing I like is his voice, which is Klarth in every way (same voice actor). Those boots are kinda cool, too.

Motomi: You know, now that I think about it, Eisui really really looked like a girl ._. So appearance has improved. Motomi wins the prize for Crappiest Past and Ultra Emo. His family tree is singularly opaque to me, and I don't think a translation would make it better, either. Seiyuu is Hoshi Souichirou. Wasn't he in Tales? <---doesn't feel like checking

Yasutsugu: Looks so much less like a clown than Yasuaki, which is just a huge relief to me. Yasuaki was pretty much my least favorite for that reason.

Akram: It's worth seeing him take off his mask (pardon my vulgarity, but the first time he took off his mask? I came), he's played by Scar's seiyuu, Okiayu Ryoutarou, and his ending still is delicious. I was very very interested at first but towards the end of the game I got tired of being sad every time I saw him. He was...kind of a bastard. Also, it's worth noting that I got an ending with him with a compatibility (with him) of 5 (out of 55). I think this would indicate that he's easy? (Akifumi's love compatibility for me was 10, and it took ages to get him to like me.)

Misono and Yukari-hime: Siblings, both played by Ootani Ikue, who was Ion in Tales of the Abyss. This is more apparent in Misono's voice. I think they're very cute, but I find the sort of misunderstanding that comprises most of their scenario very tiring, so.

Taira no Chitose: Played by Hououji Fuu's voice actress, hallelujah. I really want to get an ending with her, though it would be even neater if I could play the game as her. (Tangent: Why do so many animated FMVs gross me out? I'd accept "eh" animation if the character design wasn't always so weird. Except for Lunar 2, that was fun tiem.)

Minigames: Not as hard as expected. In fact, they were easier than in Harutoki 1, and significantly more enjoyable than endless rounds of Concentration.

Overall: A much more pleasant and smooth package than Harutoki 1. Systems are improved, all characters are prettier and more sympathetic. This game can be enjoyed effortlessly without playing Harutoki, though there are some things that will amuse people who have. (Every character will occasionally say things that his or her predecessor said.)

All that is contained above is my reactions to Harutoki 2. I've gotten endings for Isato, Akram, and Akifumi, and Hisui and Yoritada's are on the way. That's right, I dated five guys in one playthrough. =_= I just don't see any other way. If I did two at a time I would have to play eleven times to see all the still events, and I would be bored to death. This way I can get in the most interesting guys as soon as possible and then quit. =_=

I am noticing that Harutoki 3: Unmei no Labyrinth utilizes black leather in the outfits of no less than two guys. *snicker*

It suddenly occurred to me that I got some back-issues of cooking magazines in Japan, and three out of four are about autumn food. I'm thinking I must make at least two dinners in the next eight weeks.
