I still don't get the part about the dried fish... Are dried fish unpopular in Japan? Less tasty than regular fish? *is baffled*
I think male otakus do get quite a bit of opprobrium but yeah, there's no widespread social criticism of men who come home and sit around in their underwear. Isn't that the same idea as the dried fish women? (The phrase really does make me laugh ^^;;;)
Personally though I don't pay much attention to the 'messages' in such shows unless they really hit you over the head with it..
