That could go two ways - either he was the so-concentrated-on-purpose that he didn't even NOTICE girls (or did, had no idea what to do, and left them the hell alone), or he ended up with girls and wasn't sure how they got there.
In the flashbacks, he's just so...young, and naive. I think a great deal of his character development occurred between the war and now, and if he's a player, it seems like a great deal of it is a facade, to me. I'd expect him to flirt with and pay attention to women that somehow could forward his own goals. Y'know, date the right people, be seen at the right places, but never really cross the boundaries of detachment.
Hm, it's entirely possible he could be a virgin, if he just strung girls along and never quite got that intimate - for a variety of reasons, but I don't see Roy willingly becoming emotionally intimate even if he did so physically...
