I think she would have gotten punched if she were a guy, yeah. IIRC she took on guerillas/a private anti-children's book-militia unprepared, which does qualify as a risk since a) she was outnumbered b) didn't recall the correct laws and c) they were a lot bigger than she was. Plus the characters are in the army; they're not supposed to be polite. And Whatsisname waited for a private moment before chewing her out.
I guess slapping is popular as a motif both because of theidea of hysterical females and because then you can have a tsundere character (acts mean, but means well.) That said, in this case I don't think it was that bad. And it's a silly idea in general - who falls in love with their drill sergeant???
The latest chapter of Hagaren has Ed being fake-held-hostage by two guys and having a gun pointed at him. Ed abuse is still going strong XD
