Radiant Mythology 2's mercenary download system runs on PSP wifi, not the computer. One might understand that I am nervous about how that's going to be when I can't get the fucking PSP to connect to wifi in my own house. I thought it was okay, but supremely inefficient to go to a cafe with wifi. Pages geared to the PSP loaded slowly, an 85kb download took 2 minutes for the machine to handle, and of course I got kicked out after half an hour. How am I supposed to shoot through lists of mercenaries and spend time considering my choices? They also changed the levels you can specify in a search (multiples of 10 only) so I can't go looking for pictures of other people's characters wearing armor for inspiration :(

I listened to this interview with the director of idolm@ster SP, and like it says on that page, each idolm@ster SP game is different.

Perfect Sun (the pink one with Haruka, Yayoi, and Makoto): a conventional idol story made to please all audiences (since this is the one with Haruka I'm guessing it's good but bland)

Wandering Star (the yellow/green one with Yukiho, Iori, and Ami-Mami): wacky, off-the-wall, possibly even weird, appealing to dedicated fans (Ami and Mami have a fun patter and a reputation)

Missing Moon (the blue one with Chihaya, Ritsuko, and Asukaお兄さん): the director says it's like Perfect Sun, but like a soap opera. Conventional, a little more serious than Perfect Sun, with an emphasis on relationships (this one has Chihaya, so it must be dramatic)

Again and again I hear that I'm just supposed to pick the girl I like, but...I'm not really "into" any of them :| I just wanna dress 'em up, make them sing songs, and do funny stuff. WHICH ONE *writhes in agony*

It's really hard to pick when you have no idea which is which. Are we supposed to judge based on appearances?

For someone who's completely new to idolm@ster I have no idea which package I should play :(

I imagine each version is fantastic, and of course every girl is interesting. I think they're recommending Perfect Sun for indecisive first-timers like us, but the other two look like they have more personality. My summary from this vantage point is

Perfect Sun -> bland, easy
Wandering Star -> funny, light, not as easy
Missing Moon -> dramatic, serious, not as easy

BUT IT DOESN'T HELP AT ALL. I'd get Missing Moon in a heartbeat, but I'm worried Chihaya's too hard for a nab like me :<<<

Yukiho is one of the characters I'm interested in because I think it would be fun to have her as a little sister...this is one of my guidelines for choosing a game since the chances of me having romantic feelings for the idolm@ster girls is a TAD remote OTL

Can't I just have Arika for a little sister? Dress her up and have her dance and stuff? (現実逃避の更なる現実逃避)

Part of the problem with the site is that it makes them all look kinda bland! :( And I notice very few B型 (only the twins?!)

Iori I'm not so concerned with, though I find Kugimiya's tsundereign of terror to be kind of amusing.

IMHO this site's greatest failing is that they haven't put up the "diagnosis" test that tells you what idol you're compatible with yet. It comes out in less than two weeks! I need to make my preorder! Never mind that a personality test would probably just make me even crazier >:|
