yeah, it seems that the most Chestnut trees that we have in NA are of the Chinese variety.. whoever brought over the one of the first ones must've brought one that carried the disease that kills American ones (and Chinese ones are immune to..), but wouldn't that mean that we still have chestnuts here? They'd just be of the Chinese variety..

I really miss when chestnuts were readily available.. they're fantastic even just roasted.
