I really did know this was going to happen, it was obvious barreling down at me on the pipeline, but I am currently freaking inundated with media. A week or two ago I was sitting around feeling utterly bored and in a rut. I think I tried too hard to fix it.
-Japanese games for the Nintendo DS also include several "reading collection" games, I guess so you can play DS while commuting to work on the train without making people think you're an unhireable otaku or something. There is one light novel game I have but what I'm talking about are large collections of traditional literature. They're free if you download the game and I guess I can't say it's FANTASTIC AWESOME HYSTERICAL FUN (none of the sensual pleasure hur hur of actually holding a book) but it's a wonderful education for so little effort. Right now on the DS I am picking away at a Japanese translation of "The Little Princess," "Tu Tze-chun," and "Ginga Tetsudou no Yoru." One of them has a little thing that will gauge how you're feeling by asking questions and then give recommendations...!
-Hankering for a Mutsumi Tales, I've gone all the way back to Tales of Eternia. Like other Mutsumi games I've played, I was disappointed with this one at first, but over the years it just kept coming back like a creeping weed killing a tree. Yes! I am a dead tree now. < /bad metaphor> Anyway! This is a fantastic game. I think the story and the changes in the characters require a lot of careful observation but the rewards are delicious. I especially enjoy Farah's need for support, and Keele's love of knowledge <3, and Meredy's deep but furtive mourning.
-Yajima Sara wrote a gaiden about Keele's Excellent Adventure (@Inferia City's Royal Observatory) that I am also looking at. I read it before, but I need to again because 1. I'm playing Tales of Eternia! Duh! and 2. it's not enough for me that Keele gets REALLY COOL at the end of disk 1, I have to read about his ascent to awesome it detail.
-Aion beta started and I wasn't even there for the start 8D It's just as well, because like every first night the server was being hammered and it was basically unplayable. NCSoft claims that they don't want Aion to be like WoW, but I think they've taken some huge steps to make it feel like WoW for their open beta. We have the fact that they turned off click-to-move in the options (leaving me to look up how to turn the damn thing back on and find a million reviews whining about how disturbing it is. When did you guys start playing MMOs, yesterday?). There's also the new presets on the character screen, which look "earthy" (read: Robin does not want), and then there's the new character voices. I chose "young" for my female character and I'm being charitable in saying I think I just got unlucky. Maybe they just didn't do it right when they were matching up the battle voices (did I get "brawny"?), or maybe US voice actors don't know how to pronounce or produce a proper battle scream...hey, maybe they'll fix it! Hahahahaha...maybe I'm a giant weeaboo.
Seriously feeling a little despair at the thought of having to go on with those awful voices. Maybe they can let people turn on the old versions in the options or something. And match up the personalities with the old ones too come onnnnn
-oh yeah, more idolm@ster in the mail and an embarrassingly large amount of points for DLC. I got Wandering Star this time. No, I will not say straight out how much money I spent on points...but I will say I'm gettin' that Yukata Maid thing.
-OMG I also forgot I still haven't bought the 4th season of Supernatural. I really meant to so I could rewatch it and ease into seeing my imaginary boyfriend again so I don't go crazy on the 10th.
I had two migraines in the past week and then I pulled a muscle in my neck so something is always hurting up there :(
