DUDE GUYS METAFANDOM IS LIKE COVERED IN MARY SUE STUFF.
TRULY I pricked my ears when discussions of gender and privilege hit metafandom 83 Because I believe that that sort of thing leads straight to talking about how Mary Sue is a misogynist word used to hurt women! OH MY GOODNESS, how long I have waited in a cold, cold winter of people talking about copyright infringement and literal translation of honorifics, for good writing to say what I could never even fully think and RING my BELL OF MORALS---I have to take advantage of this stuff. I have to try and memorize some of this for the years to come, cuz it looks like people don't say Mary Sue is okay more than once every 7 years or so :/ SPRINGTIME IN THE HABITAT. OH DEAN, YOUR CREPES ARE READY.
Recently I made a mont blanc cake and I was disappointed. The chestnuts made my mouth dry and while it was nice, it wasn't something I will yearn for all my life. I guess I'm over chestnuts? But that means I have to set out on a journey to find a NEW FAVORITE DESSERT. Cream puffs were okay, just not the kind of thing I want to do myself. Apple "compote" where the apples are basically cooked in tea, well, I knew I wasn't gonna go nuts for that. (Still like tea.) Cheesecake was good for celebrating a friend's birthday but kinda rough and salty. But crepes! Crepe batter is easy to make and learning to fry them was FUN! Now I can make tender but resilient crepes that make me pine for Japan! Maybe one of these days I'll even attempt a mille crepe cake!
More information about the compote: it was an apple sliced and boiled in 1 cup of water with a teabag of nice tea and 10g of sugar, until the liquid mostly boiled down. It was kind of like an apple without the crisp texture and the good sweetness :/ I might try again with a sweeter apple and tea that doesn't ever need milk (Sikkim, not Assam). I got the recipe from a Japanese site that suggested it for dieting women to eat with yogurt, and, yeah, I get it, you guys are desperate :/ Mom even said it would be better treated as a pickle. Wow. Maybe with pork?
Recent cooking triumphs:
-crepes, so many crepes, and I'm starting to memorize the recipe for custard to go with them
-salmon, covered in flour and curry powder, pan-fried in olive oil, served with potatoes. I really love fish that's been salted before being grilled or fried.
-mom started making oatmeal cookies from a mix and discovered that we were out of eggs, so I suggested that she replace them with a dab of tofu and they were better than ever. Lighter, sweeter, kinder, less butter too!
-unagi chirashi, or maybe just better called eel on rice with thinly sliced cucumbers (I am gearing up for summer)
Future dessert exploration may involve lemon basil sherbet that I will probably not like anyway. But I'm allowed to try stuff!
I got my therapist to watch Supernatural and 5 minutes was enough for her to be confident that she is a Dean girl.
I'm playing Radiant Mythology 2 and eventually I will talk about that, I think.
EDIT: GGGH I FIXED THE HTML, HOW DID I MAKE ALL THAT INTO A LINK AND EVEN CLOSE IT RIGHT AND NOT EVEN NOTICE?
