"I decided I would live, even if I lost singing, because of Takuto and the others. I thought maybe I could make for them the chance to be angels, not grim reapers, by living." "I want to live...because the more pure and kind a person is, the more I think they should be happy..."
"Eichi-kun..I'm sorry."
Meroko is screaming at Takuto and Mitsuki to get up, and Izumi looks like he's gonna work on making sure that scythe gets up Sheldon's ass blade first. Sheldon stops Meroko, and tells her that Mitsuki has no visible injuries because the scythe only separates souls from their bodies. Takuto will be affected somewhat, but he will live because he's a shinigami. Then he shows her a copy of the list of people who are going to die. Mitsuki's name is on it, but only little teeny bits of it---it's fading away! Sheldon explains that once in a very great while, someone's name disappears from the list---her's name probably started to fade the very day she met Takuto and Meroko
This, however, means that Mitsuki probably wasn't fated to die. Sheldon and the Death Master were both curious because she could see the shinigami. Mitsuki's name might not have been on the list, but like we all know, people who are about to die can see shinigami. They decided to send the scythe to her, and leave whether she lived or died up to fate---now they finally have their answer.
They all look back to Mitsuki, who appears to be surrounded by some kind of light...and then she sits up. She does appear to be surrounded by fuzzy light. Sheldon says, "If this is as far as we get when we try to cut him loose, then his feelings were truly strong." Mitsuki was able to see the shinigami, even when she wasn't meant to die, because she was surrounded by the soul of someone who died. It acted as a filter, and let her see them while she was alive. The soul was that of a boy, who smiled with gentle eyes...Eichi.
Mitsuki gets up and runs around, trying to see Eichi, but nobody, not even shinigami, can see spirits. Takuto holds her back, trying to calm her down. She's horrified to think that Eichi was always watching her and she never knew.
Meroko steps forward, holds out her hand to Mitsuki, and reminds her that she has to see through Eichi to see the shinigami. When Meroko and Mitsuki hold their hands together, there's a little light between them, and Mitsuki has finally found Eichi again. He was never waiting for her at the bottom of the sea...he was never anywhere but with Mitsuki, telling her not to give up and to live.
Sheldon says that he thought Mitsuki was fated to live because when all the other humans that see them when they're about to die call them grim reapers, she called them angels. Takuto bitches at Sheldon for getting the Death Master to toss a scythe at Mitsuki when she could have died from it, but Sheldon's all like, don't ask me, I'm just a shinigami. Meroko and Izumi both join in insulting Sheldon with Takuto---"Inhuman!" "Worthless!" "Monster!" "You dismal---" "---dark---" "JONATHAN!" Sheldon hefts his scythe and LOUDLY reminds them that they're shinigami, too. "...though...I'm sure you wished you hadn't been."
Full Moon, Takuto, Meroko, and Izumi are all back down on the ground in some deserted place, about two hours after the concert was supposed to start. Meroko thinks it's probably over by now, but here comes Ooshige screaming out of a car and bitching out Full Moon---and she wants her to change into her concert clothes because she's still going to sing! They got OZ and Madoka to sing to keep the crowd busy. Speaking of Madoka, she comes marching up and proceeds to yell at Mitsuki, too. She's found out about how Mitsuki had cancer, and though she doesn't let Mitsuki see, she's very upset about it. (Izumi gives her a hug. Aw.)
Mitsuki steps out onto the stage, and the spotlight illuminates her from above as she begins to sing.
"This song is a treasure. Close it away in a box...until I return someday with the key." She bows, or curtsies (she's lifting up her...thingy...there...), to the audience. As they applaud for her, she thinks, "I've finally found the place where I can shine..."
Meanwhile, Takuto is outside somewhere. The Death Master's scythe seems to have taken a toll on him---it's done something to his soul, and now it looks like he's going to join up with Eichi, wherever he is. "I'm sorry Mitsuki...I said I'd protect you..." And then Takuto disappears completely.
