Full Moon wo Sagashite, final chapter

Sheldon and the Death Master are lying on a bed together somewhere, talking. "We've completed every thing we were intended to do here to its fullest. Let's leave the ones who will remain to decide whether they will watch and guide the human world as angels...or wander it as grim reapers."

"Where...will we go now?" Sheldon asks.

"I don't know. We could turn into ghosts...or maybe this time we'll finally climb into the heavens and be reborn. But this is different from when I died before. ...I'm leaving satisfied."

"I am, too...with you, Mystia."

Time has passed, and it is three years later. And Mitsuki is walking around long-haired, 15 or 16, perfectly happy---and talking. She's backstage somewhere, turning down some guy's FERVENT requests for her to have a date or something with him. She's not interested because she already has someone---two of them. And then she steps out onto the stage and starts singing.

Meroko comes running up, calling out to Izumi, and she's in her Mirumeiku uniform. AND SO IS IZUMI.

Izumi is watching Mitsuki's concert from VERY high above, on some rooftop, and while it suits him because he doesn't like being around all those people, it means Meroko has to go find him. She says he hasn't talked to Mitsuki in a long time, and she knows Izumi wants to see her, but he says some crap about how she's absorbed in her work and he doesn't want to bother her. They talk about where Takuto might be. Izumi thinks he turned into a ghost and went to Mitsuki the way Eichi did, and now they're bickering with each other and the like. Meroko kind of disagrees---she thinks the Death Master's scythe must have had some kind of effect. Mitsuki still might not be able to see them forever.

Meroko says that she thinks Mitsuki's cancer was actually much healthier than they thought because she spent so much time as Full Moon. Izumi confirms this---when Mitsuki was Full Moon, the cancer wasn't getting any worse. With Eichi following Mitsuki, and her meeting them, he feels like everything worked out perfectly. "I'm really glad I met Mitsuki."

Meroko makes an EDWARD face. (△ mouth. OmiGOD.)

"Why do you keep talking about Mitsuki all the time?! I've always thought that something was up with you two!! How DARE you---you---connect your hearts?! BASTARD!"

"Whaat? But you're in love with Takuto."

"THAT'S DIFFERENT! You've always been the most important to me!!"

Izumi is surprised! Meroko goes, "UH," realizing she's just Confessed Her Love to Izumi. Before he can say anyhing, she jumps into his arms and he hugs her back. "Aw...it really is true...I really love you the best, Izumi..."

"Meroko, do you know why I'm so happy I met Mitsuki?"

"Why?"

Izumi and Meroko kiss.

Fuzuki and Mrs. Tanaka are in the audience. Mrs. Tanaka is belting out her own version of the lyrics, much to Fuzuki's embarrassment. She tries to get Mrs. Tanaka to stop, but Seijuurou, watching them, stops her. It's such a happy place, why not make some noise and have fun? Fuzuki smiles back at Seijuurou and agrees. Seijuurou says, "This guitar stuff is great...maybe I'll try it!" "Please, anything but that."

Hikari and some other guy are also watching the concert.

Somewhere high above the proceedings, Madoka and Nachi are watching, too. Madoka is pissed that she cried her eyes out that Mitsuki wasn't going to sing anymore, and then Mitsuki just went and changed her name and redebuted! Nachi knows she's happy, though...and then he suggests that they get married! Madoka also finds the way he just went and said it unacceptable RAR! Bad Nachi! "So you're not happy?"

Madoka smiles. "Of COURSE I'm happy!"

"Masami!" Somewhere backstage, Wakaouji calls to Ooshige (he calls her straight-up "Masami!" KWAH! XDD) "I brought him."

"The kyojinhei!? But it's too early! It's still goopy!" [...who's seen Nausicaa? :D ...I love you, Ooshige...] ("What kind of a joke is that?") "So where is he?"

"In the audience. He said he wants to make a really big entrance..." We see someone walking out a door, and then his feet around some grass, so he's outside.

"Keiichirou-san...do you believe...that stuff? That Mitsuki was talking about..."

"About the shinigami and the angels? I think other people would laugh if they heard that...but I believe it. ...he used to say that all the time, too."

Back to the concert---Mitsuki is about to wrap it up with one last song, when she stops, her eyes on something offstage. Takuto is standing there in the audience, smiling at her. [The look on his face... *suffocates with glee* GAHA! I THINK OF ROY X_X] Mitsuki runs to him, jumping right off the stage, and makes her way through the crowd to him. "On that day you have the concert...I thought I'd disappeared, but I still had some kind of consciousness left somewhere...and when I woke up I was in a hospital. I didn't remember anything at firest, but after about three months I suddenly knew."

"I was in a coma, but I was still alive...and that's why I was never able to be a full-fledged grim reaper." Mitsuki notices he's actually talking for some reason, She says that Sheldon and the Death Master used up too much of their power trying to recreate something, and they disappeared... "It was...your throat?"

Takuto smiles. "Did you cry some while I was gone?" Mitsuki gets MAD.

"DAMN STRAIGHT I DID! You said you'd PROTECT me! I thought it was Eichi all over again and I wouldn't even get to tell you how I feel before you said goodbye! I cried like you wouldn't BELIEVE!" Mitsuki continues to REALLY bitch him out, in front of her audience and everybody, for never talking to her or coming to see her. He did have to recover and learn how to walk and everything, and he thought it would be too awkward for Mitsuki to see him then, but Mitsuki's like OMG AWKWARD>?!??1 SCREW THAT!!!!1

Takuto notes that she's certainly gotten better at expressing herself.

Mitsuki apologizes for being kind of weak, and tells Takuto she loves him. "Please...don't go away anymore! Stay with me forever!"

"Okay. I won't go away anymore." They kiss, and the crowd goes WILD, with shouts for an encore. Hikari, Ouji and Ooshige, Gucchan, Madoka and Nachi, and Izumi and Meroko are all watching. Mitsuki smiles, holds up the mike, and begins the last song of the concert, "New Future."

The rest is Mitsuki's lyrics, with a bunch of little memories of the stuff that happened in the series. Then, as the song continues, it shows just about everybody, in the present, and some credits...just like in a movie. Eheh. It's mostly REAL people who helped Arina make the series happen, but there's a very thorough role call of all the characters, as well. (If they never got around to telling us Madoka's other name, and someone would like to know that, I could put it up sometime :B) Sakurai Eichi has a whole "forever thanks" list to himself. :B

As the concert ends, a little pieces of light seems to detach from Mitsuki. Some birds nearby notice it, and chase after it as it flies away into the sky. The light flashes, and suddenly in the middle of the sky, with birds all around him, is Eichi. He reaches down to Mitsuki as if he's being dragged away, calling her and screaming, but he can't reach her. Finally he sees her standing with Takuto, looking as happy and proud as she could be. It stops him cold, and he closes his eyes, maybe trying to calm himself. When he opens his eyes again, there's a sad smile on his face. He disappears, leaving nothing it all, not even any light.

Mitsuki looks up at the sky. "Oh...I feel like the sky smiled at me...just now..."

There is a huge picture of the sea and the sky.



A little note on the last page says a new series by Arina is going to start in August... :B Well, she didn't do so hot starting a new series right away after Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne...and Time Stranger Kyoko got fried as a result... ≡＿≡...but maybe it'll work out this time, yes? :D
