I gotta read the manga, 'cause I keep hearing how much the anime is diverging. So that really gets my attention. New things to learn! And I'm too lazy for scanslations. I like having a book in my hand. Job = the reason I have all of the X TV DVDs and too many manga to fit on a single book shelf, not to mention the 3 shopping bags full of magazines.
