Just felt like making it BLINDINGLY obvious that I bought Azumanga Daioh DVDs 1 and 2 today. I got the pins. They're cute, but what a waste of styrofoam.
Also, for my other big news, I translated the first episode of Alice Gakuen for Anime Station. If you would like to see my pritty sailor-suited debut of love and justice, please download it once it comes out. (I don't know when it will. We're still missing someone to typeset and time it, but apparently the translation was the hard part.)
I actually got kind of scared when I first started. The main character has this Kansai dialect thing going on. Not that I don't know my way around it, but I'm just not used to it, especially listening to it. So translating it is kind of hard work. That wouldn't be a problem if I loved this series up and down, but I'm not really sure I DO like it yet. I've only seen one episode, and it looks like a story where Marie-sama ga Miteru's gay lovechildren go to an evil version of the X-Men school. It's cute, but there's nothing outrageously original. I'm afraid the only people who watch it are big sweaty types looking for demure little panchira and the lolita equivalent of lesbian sex, and it makes me kind of sad and uncomfortable to think about it. I started the translation praying that the series would end in, say, 13 episodes.
Actually, I'm still praying, but I changed my mind a little. I got about three-quarters of the way through when I thought back to when I was only about halfway through. And I realized that I had been having fun about halfway through the translation. (And towards the end.) Um, in short, I busted my ass for four to six hours on that translation, but I didn't mind. I might have even had fun somewhere in it. I'm not REALLY sure where, but it happened.
So that's my corny learning experience of the day. Selphish, please don't worry about me, I'm learning things and being a big girl and having fun writing wanky entries. :D
Later on I realized that it has Paku Romi in it. (Yes, this is where she's ended up after Hagaren.) And she's a boy again. A shota.
In shorts, of course. (And I complain about the big sweaty fan guys...)
So clearly I'm going to be staying for a while anyway.
I just realized that The OC is on, so I have to go watch that.
