After I wrote last, but before I went out, Aunt Jane sat down with my mom and me and let us pick some pretty things out of a box of her jewelry. For anybody who hasn't heard my lengthy explanations, my Aunt Jane is an artiste, and she freakin' dresses like one. She wears a lot of things that stand out---in a really good way. The leftovers are only arguably less fashionable. After picking through this PILE of necklace and brooches she just doesn't want anymore, and ohhing and ahhing over every single thing in it, I got a little brooch and a bracelet. (Mom got even more, because old ladies like her can wear more jewelry.) For NOTHIN'. Except the plane tickets...but I ain't counting!

I got four Azumanga DVDs, completing the series, and then when dad picked up some Comic Party and asked me what it was, I said I wanted that, too. I'm actually a little afraid of this newcomer. (Well, then why didn't you just NOT BUY IT, stupid?) This could lead to the consumption of more money, another mild addiction like Azumanga, or worse yet, another obsession. I won't have any new crap and ideas getting into my brain until I'm GOOD AND READY DAMMIT. Also, I've always been scared of buying anything that isn't a book. I'm afraid it's not necessary. (Does that mean I think books are?)

Borders: this cookbook about curry and chili sitting on a discount table started talking to me. It didn't really say much besides, "BUY ME BITCH," and that's not very creative, but what do you want for $3? Also, a little book about the food of Japan. I was hungry. (Never shop for books when you're hungry.)

To balance my happy afternoon, I came home and read a book called Persepolis without being aware of what I was getting into. If you get any exposure to a place where you can buy books, read this one. It reads fast and it's like a comic book, so that'll make you feel all jagged and trendy. Until it makes you feel REALLY SAD. It's about a bit of a girl's childhood in Iran, I'm pretty sure it's all true, and it's all recent. Mostly it scared me. I mean, what can you do? Wow, that's really deep, man. Mom says there's another book that comes after it. I MUST READ THAT FUCKING BOOK.
