I'll figure out the Japanese, eventually, I think I just have to figure out how to make it donload the language pack, rather than asking for some disk...

EDIT: God, what do I do now? Maybe I'll...play Angelique Trois? Oh, except it's in Japanese, fuck me...

Ragnarok Online is also a possibility now. Where do I get all the good stuff again?

Gimme about an hour and I'll help you out,

(Try grabbing a different browser too for reading sites, I think firefox (or mozilla) or opera will all automatically have language packs in them.)

But yeah, I think given a bit of time I can get it working again.

firstly i take it you have XP? Not that you have to, it's just that i dont have experiences with any other OS than the windows family.

i know i hate it when people try to "help" you and they come with stupid suggestions that only work for THEM and EVERYONE but you, so i offer my apologies forehand if that's the case here:

the only problem i've ever had with displaying japanese pages was when i still used ie5 (probably) on windows '98. At one point it just didn't encode pages anymore and i would go berserk and tear my hairs out, but a reinstall of explorer using custom options would let me chose any type of non-western font to install. Basically, you could download any latest browser such as ie6 and have the fonts installed for viewing webpages. No disc required. Alternately, i have this mysterious package up for download, which may help you in one way or another:
ie_ja.exe, it installs the japanese font, and i believe it's XP-compatible but frankly i don't remember where i needed this for in the first place ._.; I recommend upgrading your browser anyway if you hadn't done that yet. This was just an old solution of mine to SOME KIND of japanese language problem.

Uhm about the input, i've had trouble discovering the language input settings when i upgraded to XP but i take it you already know about them (THIS demented story imean). If it's throwing an error in this menu telling you that you need a disc, i'd be a little confused because i haven't encountered that myself for japanese fonts. However it did occur to me when i was trying it for *say* heratic Arabic.
The most obvious and dumbest solution to this would be to get yourself a copy of the OS disc it's asking for (OOOH!!) no seriously, i mean those guys that butchered your pc should have it -> otherwise there are supposedly various alternate input programs available (i don't know shit about those, ask google ¦|) --> if all fails try the mystery package WHICH WILL PROBABLY DO NOTHING but better try anything. Myself i'd prefer the first method which may not be withing reach for you now ._.; Uhm and I may be overlooking something at the moment, sorry i don't even know any details on sasuke =] At least let me know how things work out for now ok?

I'm going to ask for the disk, first. The earliest I can get it is Monday, so in the meantime I'll keep struggling along on the laptop when I want to look at Japanese pages. =w=
