1) Total number of films I own on DVD/video:
Umm. This doesn't mean, like, anime series, does it? Maybe three of my own on tape taken from the TV. I just watch movies on TV, man :D

2) The last film I bought:
...no comment. T_T Probably Sailormoon R or S several years ago.

3) The last film I watched:
The first Austin Powers movie, on TV last night. I think the fembots are hysterical. (I somehow find myself substituting Roy for Austin Powers. All the foolishness and geekery...)

4) Five films that I watch a lot or that mean a lot to me:
a) Tampopo (YOU. MUST. SEE. THIS.)
b) Sailormoon R (the first Sailormoon I saw in Japanese.)
c) The Princess Bride (geek requirement there)
d) Alien (shuddery frightening goodness. She even saves the cat!)
e) Run Lola Run (insert witty joke about exercise and fatigue here)

2) The last film I bought: Disney's "Aladdin"

3) The last film I watched: "X-Men". Ian McKellan rocks my greyclad world. He officially outclasses Hannibal Lecter as the most charismatic villain on the silverscreen.

4) Five films that I watch a lot or that mean a lot to me:

1. Star Wars. My first memories of assimilating English are from watching Return of the Jedi on rental VHS and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on afternoon TV. Laser swords and spaceships. It's totally radical.

2. Lord of the Rings. The first time I saw Gandalf's cart rolling through Hobbiton while the "Concerning Hobbits" melody played, I had this huge swelling feeling inside me. I was almost moved to tears, so vivid and accurate was the imagery--straight out of the book, each swaying wisp of grass dancing in perfect counterpoint to each meticulous syllable upon the pages of Tolkien. Symmetrically, the emotionally charged orchestral swell of the "Concerning Hobbits" theme at Aragorn's coronation in RotK as the host of thousands bowed to the hobbits gave me a lump in my throat. It was a monumental moment, one that equaled the scene from A New Hope as Luke gazed over the dunes at Tattoine's twin sunset shimmering into dusk.

3. Indiana Jones. Best chase scenes EVER. John Williams at the top of his game. Spielberg before he went all sterile-dystopic-future on us. Han Solo carrying his own movie, saving girls and kicking fascist butt. This is why Harrison Ford was the top paid actor in Hollywood.

4. Silence of the Lambs. My first true appreciation of the "villainous protagonist" archetype. Exquisite acting by Hopkins and Foster. Prepared me to appreciate Magneto and Saruman.

5. Sailor Moon. My first contact with anime. It led into Evangelion and Fushigi Yuugi and the rest just fell into place. Beneath the trappings of cookie cutter monsters and campy antics, it is a story of heroic archetypes and broad human themes--courage, friendship, sacrifice, and redemption. Like Star Wars, this was wholesome epic storytelling before the modern age of tailoring entertainment to the needs of brute marketing. Ironically, both Smoon and SW helped launch the trend of pervasive marketing in their respective genres of entertainment.

Hey pocky,
this is dave becker bother you yet again. NOt sure whats going on with you lately and people in the group are wondering too. We want you to know that we arent full of shit and that we truly do, and did all those year ago, care very much about you. What sounded like nagging was actually nagging with love. We wantd our pocky to grow up big and strong like the rest of us and hated the thought of seeing you left behind in the pits of RMHS. I don't care if you hate us or think we are evil or anything because we still care about you. Just wanted to see waht you were up to and see how life in pockyland is going. We are all doing great, and guess what?!!? Me, dez, Carly and her bf from online/indiana JOhny are moving into an apartment together, but get this!~ Its a 5 minutes walk from PORTER SQUARE! Which i know you love! Ally is in school for acting, i am in school for art (check me out at http://dave3of4.deviantart.com ) Amanda is graduating soon, sarah still a junior, carly . . . is working on getting a job after dropping out of art school, stef going to school in the fall, dez working at comcast soon, brian working on becomeing a landscape designer, rose still at simons with no major (lol we love our rose) Lauren at fairfeild, becky at umass studying english and history, and i think that does it. OMG! crissy still in florida singing her brains out. So thats about it on the recap of us. You may just pass this by, but know that we are here for you and we miss you. Some of us have even been spying on ur LJ for the past few months. So a big hug from me and hopefully hear from you some day.

So I didn't hear the love in the nagging and I don't want to get in touch with you, because I am one crazy duck and can't tell that you're a bucketful of lurve. I wouldn't say that you're a bad person, but I never felt more shame and guilt than when I was hanging out with "the group." With that, I hope you'll understand that I don't want to talk to you.
