For dinner some weekend a while ago:
Omuraisu!
For dinner weekend before last:
Cabbage rolls in tomato soup with onions, bacon, and shiitake
Rice with fresh peas
For dinner last weekend:
Braised haddock (couldn't get sole or flounder)
Curry stir-fried cabbage
Hiyayakko
Red miso soup with potatoes and onions
Yang came over and cooked so we also had:
Shrimp chips! (He also brought watermelon, weird soda and a bag o' frozen gyoza. We haven't finished eating it all.)
For laughs a couple days ago:
Kinako and sesame seed cookies (resembled a rich but cleaner shortbread)
For dinner last night:
Curry salmon meuniere
Fresh peas
Fried potatoes
Sour cream and black pepper for condiments
I've been making pancakes a lot, too. My choice in pancake mix is truly an extravagance (imported from Japan, claims to be organic), but they taste like the pancakes of my childhood. I had a bunch of leftover koshian so I kept eating that with pancakes. Between that and the omuraisu my frypan abilities have had a LEVEL UP!
My next conquest was going to be either spicy deep-fried katsuo or aji meatballs, but the store didn't have either fish and I had to settle for ingredients for something else mutter mumble. HAY, WHOLE FOODS, HAVE ANY TUNA FROM THE PACIFIC?
I don't normally cook this frequently or this nice. My mother is home from school for the summer and I have her to order around (go buy this for me, cut these onions, tell me if that looks done). She happily plays along because she likes what I cook and she doesn't have to plan anything.
Look, I found a quiz that didn't come from someone else! ( It's been nothing but princesses with me these days. Yeah, really. )
