My first note of Ruby's personality will describe how she acts when she's tired. She's a baby. She doesn't know to go to bed when she's exhausted and needy. When she gets tired or hungry, she turns into a mouthing biting jumping whirlwind that can only be temporarily distracted by throwing around her favorite toys. She likes biting them maybe as much as she likes to fling herself at my legs while I'm walking around minding my own business and try to hang on by biting my pants and initiating a tug of war vs. my leg.
On her first day, she spent 8 hours in a truck with a bunch of other barking noisy dogs being transported from the south. She didn't fall asleep in the 2 hour car ride on the way home, and she didn't fall asleep for several hours at home, where there were a lot of new things to explore and none of the living things she had been living with. THEN WE FOUND OUT puppies her age can sleep 16-20 hours a day :| The first day was REALLY SCARY. My parents and I thought we had a difficult animal on our hands. We were ready to deal with it but it would have been harder than dealing with the mellow dog we have now.
