Made and ate: mackerel shio-yaki (salted and grilled), stir-fried cabbage with curry powder, hiyayakko (little blocks of tofu with stuff on them), and miso soup with potatoes and onions. OH NO, I DIDN'T FOLLOW THE MENU SHOWN IN A FRIGHTENING SCHIZOPHRENIC 80S JAPANESE COOKING BOOK FOR INEXPERIENCED YOUNG WIVES TO THE LETTER! WHY, I NEVER! Took a picture---and probably closed my phone too soon, so NO PICTURE! Haha! Also NO E-MAIL from Snotty's, but I will have to settle for sort of simmering instead of being outright annoyed because the food was splendid and I ate so much. And a couple of those doujinshi are in their e-bay store anyway. Will make sure to fuss about wanting to buy them and not being able to until something happens.

I remember my first taste of miso soup. It was on a field trip in elementary school in Alabama to this Japanese department thing at the U of A. I remember thinking it was kind of really weird and musty at first b/c of the fermented taste. And then after a few more gulps, it got kind of addictive.

Japanese department?

Oh, heh heh, sorry. =_= Does it taste musty? ...I will have to eat more to make sure.
