:/ Sigh.

Mostly my problem is that they're going to take an unflattering photograph of me right after 20+ hours of traveling. COOL GUYS. And then it'll go into a database for who knows how long for the security to stare and go HAW! LOOK AT THOSE KNOCKERS!

Also, last spring when I had my first passport picture taken, the light was so bright and I was so pale that the government sent them back. I had those pictures taken at AAA. The photographing equipment probably won't be any better in Narita airport---what if I come out too pale and it messes everything up? Will they throw me into one of those infamously horrid Japanese prisons? ;^; What if they have those problems some people have here, where they have the same names as terrorists and get stopped every time?

Also not sure how I feel about being fingerprinted.

ALSO, note how uncomfortable I am about all this even though the only thing I plan to destroy in Japan is a plate of curry mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm =w= And I do plan to go to Japan again. It's just kinda too bad there's gonna be another hassle at the airport.

?!? They sent back your pictures?! "No, maam.. this is not you, sorry."

..from what I recall, you can make your own passport pics now.. as long as you follow a certain format.. that's exactly what they do at your local walgreens, anyhow.

(they use digicams and editing soft.. really light editing soft.. made for people who don't understand computers.)

..definitely look in to it, because well.. it beats having problems at the airport, that's for sure.

Yes, I went to the AAA to get my passport picture done, and it was sent back because it was "overexposed." I did look very pale in them. So in the end I did go to Walgreens. I was sad and tired when they took the picture, so I look sad and tired, but nobody's stopped me over it yet. :/

Has there ever been an act of foreign terrorism in modern Japan? I thought they were more with the homegrown crazy.

[identity profile] moumusu.livejournal.com 2007-11-05 07:57 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, the Sarin gas attacks were homegrown, and I'm not sure they've had anybody die due to any terrorism since, let alone from foreigners (though apparently in Okinawa sometimes soldiers just go berserk). It's worth noting that there's a concern over North Korea and China, the former because of proximity to a total nut, and the latter because they're both fighting over the same resources.

I'm just going to avoid the sarcastic remarks I was going to make because it's not worth it. Yes, Japan is mostly homegrown crazy, as we can see from this new law.

It is objectionable, it's just an unnecessary hassle that treats people like criminals for no reason. I didn't even get fingerprinted when I went to Israel and they have a real security situation to worry about, unlike Japan/

[identity profile] moumusu.livejournal.com 2007-11-05 07:59 am (UTC)(link)
...I am inclined to agree with that. Certainly Japan can't stop the tsunamis, earthquakes, and the ridiculously low birth rate by fingerprinting me when I just want to go to my hotel and pass out.

When are you coming again! We should meet up!

[identity profile] moumusu.livejournal.com 2007-11-07 10:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, man, do I dare? That would be fun, yes, I agree. The problem is I'm probably not going to be back for at least a year. My family is actually not rich enough for me to visit twice every year! T_T (Maybe it's for the better. I'm getting kind of tired of long plane rides in steerage.)

So if I go to Japan again, they're going to get a nice picture of me drooling, cranky and jet-lagged. Joy. And the fingerprinting...oi.

[identity profile] moumusu.livejournal.com 2007-11-07 10:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I know. The price for our doujinshi just got a little higher, so to speak. =_= But shit man, that wouldn't stop me if it was really time to go again. So what if the security's a little tighter in Japan? IT'S FAIRYLAND. Everybody has to have that.
