After years of playing and loving the PC version, I thought maybe it was time I got the PS2 port! I really just want more date places and presents...that's okay, right?
While I was looking at websites I happened across a review (I can't find it right now) in Japanese that gave this game very poor marks.
Thoughts onShugosei Yaoi Angelique Etoile,
Original characters (from the first game) were OOC.
Julious still likes horseback riding and espresso and hates Clavis. Marcel is still shota prince gone green. Olivie still likes to wear women's clothes---in fact, every article he owns at once. WHAT IS THERE TO COMPLAIN ABOUT? Robin only played the first Angelique game, and by golly, she didn't really care about any of the guys in that game. So Robin doesn't care! Yeah. I've had it with the original characters. Long live the Beast Cosmos shugosei, because with them around I can scold "Kratos" for eating too many hot dogs.
There wasn't enough deep backstory.
This game assumes you are wild for the original guys. What else are they going to tell us about them? The new guys all have to be recruited, which involves minimum three events alllllll about them. The original Angelique had much less than this---they barely even explained what's going on with certain shugosei and the Queen.
The original characters all hate each other. It's like they didn't learn anything from their experiences in previous games.
It's not my problem if you want all those grumpy long-haired guys to be gay for each other. (I understand how awful that is, considering how unpopular some of my favorites are, but.)
JUST when you get all 9 Holy Beast Cosmos shugosei, you have to start replacing your bracelet every two weeks to do anything.
Then don't get all 9 right away, silly. Or don't finish recruiting them until the cosmos is all leveled up and you don't have to use the bracelet, anyway.
Saving and loading takes too long.
This is a very real and serious problem. .-. Specifically it takes upwards of 30 seconds (estimated) just for the game to read the memory card. What went wrong? 30 seconds is definitely long enough for me to look down and into a book. KOEI, BE HAPPY YOU FIXED THIS IN SUBSEQUENT GAMES.
Too many characters.
NO. My strike range is small. I need 19 guys to find like 2 favorites. Bringing it down to six guys means I didn't really care about anything, and that's ridiculous because one of them had Roy's voice! Come ON!

It was like a long, pleasant personality test, where the reward is pretty pictures and [insert your favorite voice actor here] sounding lovey-dovey. So yeah...it was like a romance simulation. So? That's what I paid for.
So here's the thing---I bought Haruka 3 and the expansion disc a month or two ago, and I followed all the instructions, but the MixJoy just doesn't work. Maybe I used the wrong memory card? Or, I'm mostly afraid that I used the wrong system region, and I can't really fix that. :| HALP. (Adi, that's why I wasn't playing :X)

What you have to do after you start up Izayoiki, and go to Mixjoy, it will prompt you to put in the Haruka3 disc. After you close the lid and press the circle button, and wait for it to finish 'mixing', and stick the Izayoiki disk back in. You just need your memory card with your Haruka3 data :3
What the mixing does, is allows you to play for the Izayoiki endings. If you don't have the Haruka3 cd, then the only Izayoiki endings you can get is Seiryuu-tachi (or was it just Masaomi and Shirogane? I forget, I'm sorry;;;). At any rate, your play of actual Izayoiki stuff will be limited to just the original Haruka3 tracks and the basic Izayoiki events.
If you have more troubles, I can ask my sister at home to check for me exactly how the process goes ^^

Do you (and Adi) use swap disks to play Japanese games? Or do you have Japanese PS2s? I'm guessing mine doesn't work because I have an old one that I had to take apart so I could use swap disks :/ I'm also guessing that until I buy a new PS2 (possibly in Japan), I won't be able to play Izayoiki.

I was horrified when you said you switched the discs while still spinning @_@ haha, but as long as your PS2 and discs are still intact... XDGah. I use a Japanese PS2 to play games, I actually don't have any English PSX games XD I got my PS2 off of ebay for a pretty good price (If I can remember correctly XD) I hope you are able to get your hands on a PS2 or remarkably get your game discs to work ._.!

Oh my god, it was horrifying ._. I don't think it really affected anything except the thing that actually spins the disk in the middle, but it made a bad noise and the laser kept bouncing around in the machine. I would actually have more of a problem if that worked because then I would be like, well, should I do it again? :/
When I first got a PS2 the US stuff definitely outweighed the Japanese stuff, but now it's 90% Japanese games. I broke my old PS2's tray motor, of all things, moving the tray in and out to use the swap disk...maybe I would save money if I just bought the damn thing in Japan? >_> The timing is impeccable---I'm going in a few weeks, but I really want this candy red special edition... (yes I know I am asking a lot)

I think it does make that bouncing around sound...?? Unless I'm just thinking of another time my PS2 freaked out on me. But Ahhh gosh ._.;;; I'll ask my sister to check the game and have her tell me exactly how the process went with each prompt and tick of the PS2.
Wah > <;; maybe it is time for you to get a new PS2 *pats your poor machine*. Geh, if you can afford it with the current exchange rates, go for it. Look in used book/goods stores for deals on buying PS2 if you don't mind used.

I don't play a LOT of otome games besides Neoromance stuff...the Neoroma stuff is too good and I'm spoiled X3 But the Princess Nightmare one...the one where you get to play a vampire! That sounds like fun! :> Mostly I play RPGs and wish that they were dating games with CERTAIN CHARACTERS. Which Tales have you played/liked (translation: which guys should I talk about :DDDD)?
It made this "chweep, chweep" sound and the little stick with the laser was popping in and out...I-I am bad OTL

LOL Etto~ I've honestly only played ToS. Half of Radiant Mythology, first part of Eternia, and seen tiny bits and pieces of Destiny, Abyss... yeah > < I'm mostly a fan of the series due to collateral damage received from my brother, so I really can't help but love it (but I have to blame him first XD). I can tell you a few things character-wise though XD so here I go:
I love Lloyd (♥!!!) and Regal. I'm not the typical Kratos fan, though my sister loves him XD. I think Shiina→Lloyd is uber cute. Chester is one of my favorite archer charas ever (even though I've barely met him and I don't usually have a thing for archers XD). Even though my two favorite voice actors are in the same series (they are Riddo and Kiru), I haven't yet grown to like their characters. And despite getting easily annoyed by female characters, I really like Merudi—I think she's adorable. (I'm a huge seiyuu fan~ that's my main fandom, along with Haruka/Corda/CCS)

UFU ♥ I LEIK KRATOS ♥ But lately I've discovered a new appreciation for Lloyd because he's such a good kid and he's SO CUTE. About seiyuu, I didn't really get into Symphonia because of Kratos, I just played because it was Tales and then suddenly was struck on the second playthrough by how mmmmm nice his voice was *_* Do you like Tachiki Fumihiko? Is he, like...too deep and growly? Or is it good? Tachiki Fumihiko is the reason I loved Angelique Etoile :333 I also like...Ookawa Tooru, ummm...Koyasu Takehito, Miki Shinichirou...the list grows basically one name a year but THEY ARE ALL NEATO.

LOL. Wow. Hehe ^^ Yeah, I didn't get into ToS because of the seiyuu... (I really like Konitan though, XD) I usually don't play games or watch anime for seiyuu (but I do look for CD dramas/songs by them =3) and Tachiki~! I do like Tachiki :3 My sister has a DVD somewhere of a Neoroma event she went to. He sang this really awesome jazzy number x333 ♥
I haven't played Etoile, but I've played... Trois? OTL *fails at keeping up with Ange* XDDD YAY SEIYUU-TACHI ♥
