I've played Atelier Lize on the DS for a little over a week. I had a little bit of a false start because I started playing and then discovered that the first release was so buggy they had to make a second, fixed version. I read something that made it sound like you couldn't even get the good ending if you did it right---wow.

The characters are okay, some might complain about the discussion of money or women, and they totally destroyed item gathering. You have to walk around instead of just saying you'll stay for another day. The battle system is truly awkward and slow (I use Powan a lot ._.). The minigames were fantastic, but they weren't frequent enough---I think it would have been better to give the player the choice to play minigames for more items or to just skip them for the normal amount.

It's quite the tragic game. In fact, I don't think it would be exaggerating to say the first release sullied the name of the Atelier franchise ._. The fixed version is nothing special either. ...but considering my record with broken games, it's no wonder I can't leave it alone >:|

Though I would normally hate her from her character description my favorite character is Powan :> And though I would normally like Lolotte...I don't. What the heck? She's the idiot blonde popular cheerleader girl who snubs the adorable poor geek who is destined to rule the world. Keeping Lize around so she'll look prettier in comparison INDEED.

My excuse for loving Manon is that he's going to be Roy when he grows up. OH FORBIDDEN SHOTA LOVE. I must try to get some character events with him next time.

PLEASE? :> Hey, would you ever want to play the game? >3> (there are several hurdles so I'm guessing probably not)

It's like Cooking Mama meets Final Fantasy meets FMA.

Re: Manon

Ahem...I successfully played several DS games on an emulator before discovering that it just didn't seem to work with certain games where you had to keep the stylus on the screen for more than a tap. Atelier Lise is one of those. You could also buy a Nintendo DS and an R4 cartridge (what I did). Or you could just fail at the minigames, because they aren't frequent enough, though life does get harder that way ^^;;;

Or, you could try Atelier Iris? I bet you've heard of that. There's three games for the PS2 and while it really isn't as FUCKWIN as the main series, (lacks a female main character, not as focused on item making) it's fun.

The fun part of playing an Atelier game is that there is always a Philosopher's Stone and it's always fun to tell Catie what the game says the ingredients are to see her flail >3> Also, in Atelier Iris, Grand Phantasm, the hero is voice acted by someone amusing... >w>
