Fluttery armor for everyone except Libiel, who gets squishy armor
Libiel equipped with Peco and the dragon scale and an anti-magic crystal summon, just in case
Lisher with Bezz Saw (mine was at level 2 and Lisher's favorite)
Fair with favorite Bit Gamma
Mint with Seyrenne and the +3 stepping stone
Seiron with that one oni-type healing spell and the dragon horn
Lucian with Lipsy
Aroeri with a 6-cell bow and a 5-cell bow, the dragon fang, a ZOC block summon and favorite Pokkle favorited just in case. You should also give her a lot of points in AT and TEC.
Accessories that reduce damage from machine element on everybody except the ones with dragon parts (I had 2 CPUs and used them both)
Whatever makes you happy with Glad, or take your dragon child and have him cheer people on
The main character should be level 14, and everyone else should be level 13
I brought lots of food and items and hardly used them, YMMV
When you start the battle, there will be a WALL OF FIRE to your upper left, with robots with GUNS behind it. Cross it so that you don't leave any vulnerable characters in range of the shooting. Mint, Libiel, and especially Aroeri take priority.
Get over to the left side of the screen, where there is a machine with 2 green lights. Have Mint summon the +3 stepping stone so it appears right next to this console, and also next to the corner of the platform where all the important enemies are.
Have a character within GRAN-Va-LD's range, next to the big red button.
Put Lisher on the stepping stone. With Bezz Saw, she should be just able to reach that stupid bunny robot. Once you hit him, he will shoot at whatever character you just used as a decoy and then move away. He should still be in range, so hit him again with the same spell and then have Lisher step off the stepping stone. GRAN-Va-LD will move back closer to you again, and now you can finish him. When I did this, I had to use the Bezz Saw's first spell twice and the second spell once. FINISH HIM OFF BEFORE LISHER RUNS OUT OF MP.
Have Lisher step off of the stepping stone and, preferably, go far far away where things will not be able to hit her.
Use the main character to cast Gamma Barrier on Aroeri.
Have Aroeri fly up to the platform with the stepping stone. Draw out Geck by hitting one of the robots near him, but don't hit Geck yet. The important part here is to just hit something.
Have a character standing around where Laurette could hit them if she were just a little closer.
Geck and a couple of robots will come dashing over to beat up Aroeri. Hopefully, Geck will come within range of Aroeri's shooting to cast Drillittle on her. Shoot at him, and then have her climb back down from that platform so that she stands on the stepping stone.
I was told that Laurette will also start moving when Geck takes damage, so she might start shooting at your decoy now.
When you climb back down to the stepping stone, Geck's robots will go back to where they started, but Geck is likely to keep coming closer to cast spells on you. While Aroeri is down there, have the main character cast Gamma Barrier on her again. She should not have taken any damage, except maybe from Laurette.
On the next turn, have Aroeri go back up to the platform where Geck is hopefully a lot easier to hit. There were at least a couple occasions where I was able to hit him at point-blank range.
Keep having Aroeri go up and down off the platform. This is to make Geck use up his MP, so cast Gamma Barrier on her every time. If your main character runs out of MP, heal her with any one of the many healing spells you might have.
Certainly when Geck runs low on MP Laurette will start bothering you. Have Aroeri defend instead of countering, just in case. (If she dies you get no Brave Clear and the whole thing goes to pieces.)
SHOOT GECK A LOT. He has a skill to make him dodge projectiles more but frankly it doesn't work so well on him :> If you feel really crazy, bring up Libiel AFTER Geck runs out of MP and have her summon Peco so they can both do some extra damage, mostly to the robots.
Once you kill Geck the battle is over. No other robots, no using tons of food and items and MP, no having to send useful characters away to hit switches, no stress from having to fight the real boss when your party is already desperate! Yay!
This plan was devised by Japanese people who run SN4 wikis, not me. It really says something about a game when it's more convenient to do all this bullshit than to just fight the way you were intended to. I hate this battle, possibly even more than the chapter 13 one. (We'll see when I get there.)
