A strawberry shortcake is in the works. The cake is sponge. I used a smallish recipe in an 8" pan, and it came out only an inch thick, so I'm just going to cut it in half and make the layers that way. I'm also hoping to pretty it up with the icing, so I really want to take a picture this time. (probably with my cell phone...)
For communication, my L2 characters are: Irie, Migiwa, Nagisa, Izumi, Kosui, Shio, and Nagare. Everybody's name has to do with water. *preens*
EDIT: I forgot to mention, people have been really sparkly and nice and normal to me since the wipe. Either they're trying to make up for the random PKfest before the wipe, or I'm oversensitized from having to run by all those PK groups every time I left a fucking town. And once in Dion I didn't have to run by anything but some archer shot the fuck out of me, and I died on the first hit. OH JOLLY FUN.
EDIT: Last time I made a strawberry shortcake, the sponge cake was stiff, it had two whole layers, and I ran out of whipped cream so I used this weird icing that's supposed to LOOK like whipped cream. We didn't have enough room for it in the fridge and got. Melty. Over the course of a WEEK. Look, it was bad. Bad cake. BAD.
So the cake is done cooling, the whipped cream's been in the fridge for a bit. I tried to put together my strawberry shortcake a minute ago with mixed results. I had a piece, and it at least tastes very, very nice, so I've improved! Yay! The downside is that I can't put it together to look like anything but shit! If I manage to produce something that will not blind all who see it with its ugliness, I'll try to take a picture of that.
EDIT: I mean, I know I'm being a wuss, but I'm used to success when I cook. Why can't it come out like this? Or even this? It's like it doesn't want to compromise with me. It's like talking to a brick wall. Haven't I tried hard enough? Why doesn't it love me back? WHYYYYYYYYYY.

There's no icing, no nothing except the regular rectangular pan I use every time.
I wanna buy those 8 inch rounds pans so i can make two layers and then ice it all up with chocolate icing and put little strawberry's on top. With whipped cream. Yummm....

Interestingly enough, I actually prefer to eat cake as is, because I don't like most frosting (except for whipped cream). I just get such a charge out of decorating them I do that, too. Then I make other people eat it. ^^* I would not make cakes if I didn't have my fambly to deal with them for me.
