Yuuichi: Let's see a movie!
Ayu: Yay!
Yuuichi: Let's see a SCARY movie.
Ayu: No.
Yuuichi: Yes!

(In the movie)

Ayu: *hides under her famous coat in abject fear*
Yuuichi: No, you HAVE to watch the movie! *takes away Ayu's coat*
Ayu: *FLAILS* *makes various tortured "uguu" noises* *is generally in a LOT of distress* You bully!
Yuuichi: Hahahahaha! What a dumb movie! Ayu must be crazy to be scared of this!

(After the movie)

Ayu: *with tears in her eyes* That was really scary. I've always been afraid of ghosts and monsters. I CLEARLY didn't like that.
Yuuichi: You're abnormal for feeling fear at a movie that has a reputation for making people faint. You should have clung to me like a little sex-starved teenybopper. You act like a boy so much that people will mistake you for one.
Ayu: ...!!! ;_;
Yuuichi: ^___________^ Score one for me! Oh, girls are so fun to torture!

CAN YOU TELL WHO I DON'T LIKE YES/NO

I tried watching the first TV series and got annoyed at Ayu for being so... so... excessively visual-novel-character-ish. I mean 'uguu'?!?!?! I don't know why male anime fans like girls who act like small children (only without the evil genius of your average kid).

But Yuuichi really sounds like a complete jerk here. :/

The same goes for Makoto with her animal noises. x_x; Probably why I liked Mai. She was quiet and mature.

Yeah, Makoto has a noise she makes, too, doesn't she...I like how Mai doesn't say much.

You'll notice it in the newest episodes a lot. I liked most of the girls when I was younger, but now I like Shiori and Mai (lesbian buds forever!) and I think ol' what's-her-face voiced by Sakamoto Maaya's okay, even if she's the angst queen.

Mai has the coolest past, too. I'm envious.

He is! He was a total pig! I'm sick of him! He better improve!

You know, I never thought of it that way, but...Ayu's cuteness really is that of a visual novel, isn't it? :/ Oh dear.

Honestly, most shows based off visual novels/dating games annoy the hell out of me (don't string ten girls along. PICK ONE. Also, characters designed expressly to match a certain zokusei/fetish popular among otaku irritate me too) so it's not really a criticism of Kanon in particular. Even stuff aimed at that same segment (like Haruhi for example) can aggravate me on occasion. So I think it's fair to say that I have a slight bias against that type of show - I had an argument with someone in RL who wanted me to watch AIR on the grounds that it was 'shoujo'. Um, no it's not.

Er well. I only watched the first episode of Kanon, anyway, so I can't really judge. I don't mean to nitpick on something you like.

Still, I don't recall Yuuichi being such an ass in the first version so I wonder where this comes from. I hope he shapes up soon.

It's almost an identifying characteristic of Key Visual Arts that their games always have characters with strange 口癖 or 語尾 orz

By the way, this uguu noise is actually a very amazing noise.

By using "uguu" in everyday life, anyone who knows Kanon will know that you have played it and like it. Furthermore, even if you mix it into your everyday conversation, people who don't know about Kanon will not be able to catch onto the fact that you've played it. Absolutely spiffy!

...sorry, I'll go reflect upon myself for a bit
