These were the first passport pictures taken of me. (Well, the second one isn't for passports. It's for you.) Don't they look nice? I think they look nice. But then:

Dad: I can't edit them so that they're the right size on my computer.

Robin: Do you have Photoshop?

Dad: No.

Robin: Then I'll do it.

I went to resize them and print them out so that the face would be between an 1 and 1 1/8 of an inch big. Upon my success, I showed my fine work to my father.

Dad: Oh...but can you change the whole picture so that it's 2 x 2 inches?

Robin: Um, no. [As you can see, the picture is rectangular and it's staying that way if we want to get my whole head in the picture.]

Dad: Oh, well, that's what I meant by editing the picture...I'm sorry, I tried to tell you.

Robin: WHEN exactly?

So instead we take pictures of each other in the dark TV room, with the flash instead of creamy natural light, without dressing up, without being NEARLY as smiley as we were before. Here is an exchange between me and my father overheard while he was taking my picture.

Robin: *smiles*

Dad: *takes picture and looks at it* Ehhh.

Robin: Yeah, take it again.

Dad: Look up a little bit. *takes picture*

Robin: You're gonna get my double chin!

Dad: Fiddle faddle!

Robin: C'mon, do it again.

Dad: All right...

Robin: *produces the best smile yet and holds it while daddy fumbles with the camera*

Dad: Oh, you look so paralyzed!

Robin: *smile changes into a frown*

Dad: *takes picture and looks at it* Ehhh...

Robin: Take it again?

Dad: Yeah. *takes picture*

Robin: Can I see? *looks* I have red eye.

Dad: Really? I can't see it.

And so on, and so forth.

Now it's time to resize the pictures so the faces print to between 1 and 1 1/8 of an inch.

Photoshop: I can't take directions for resizing things in inches, only in pixels and percentages :DDDDD

I did it it the trial and error way, printing out pictures over and over again until they are the right size, and finally produced a picture of myself that is 2 inches wide, with a face that is between 1 and 1 1/8 of an inch. Now it's time for the other pictures, except with this picture, which was taken in a different place, I can't cut a suitable square without getting the goddman bright yellow date in the corner that my father (him again) insists on having on all our digital pictures.

Jerry, our Superbowl guest: You know, you can get passport pictures done at the AAA.

Us: We're doing that.

It is unclear whether ANY of my editing was legal for these passport pictures. I imagine they're extremely finicky about that kind of thing.

My departure date is April 2. I have two months left and already I'm annoyed with my father. He's learning Japanese though, and that's actually really fun because I get to know everything and have a perfect accent. I can teach him to use "boku" and never "ore"! (He'd probably be the "boku" type anyway.)

Me: What's your name?

Dad: ワタ しは ahh どなるだばとれた。

Me: Where are you going?

Dad: ワタしタチ...は にほん に wait wait don't tell me...エキマス。

As you can see, his accent is atrocious. It's only his second day trying to learn Japanese. I have had fantasies of taking him to a maid cafe but I think they would be scared of us more than anything else. Oh, speaking of things for otaku, I have revised my plans to include a trip to "Otome Road." I think I'm going to like Ikebukuro.

I finished Summon Night 3 and I've started on a new game, this time with Lex. I spent like half an hour trying to decide what element I wanted him to be =_= So far it's almost like a harem anime. I wasn't expecting this. Last time my main party was Aty and seven guys; this time I plan to make my party Lex and seven girls. ますますハーレムね。

As for my thoughts on the end of the game, it was nice to see that Very Important Guy, but overall I thought things were cliched, and I unfortunately started cheering for Ishlar at one point. I guess I was supposed to, but still. I got Will's ending, and it is an unfortunate thing that I am not attracted to Will because he was very cute. I also got the bangaihen, but I'm not really sure what to do with it as I never played Summon Night 2. I'm afraid to play it because I'm pretty sure things won't make sense if I do. But I got it, I got it.

Awww, your so pretty!
I wasn't allowed to smile for my passport photos -.-''

From: [identity profile] moumusu.livejournal.com

Oh, no? Oh no...I think I intimidate people when I don't smile...maybe I WANT an intimidating passport photo, though... ;_;

You should totally use that second picture for your passport...

...Even though you can't. >_>

It's looking pretty grim at this point, but I had been hoping to go to Japan this summer. ;_;

I'm sorry to hear that. I hope you do get to go after all. :<

Why couldn't they like happy girls with their eyes squinched up a little better!?

ハァh(ry

Good luck teaching your dad Japanese, I have dreams my parents will one day be able to converse in Japanese with me also ( ̄▽ ̄)

From: [identity profile] moumusu.livejournal.com

Snrk. Well, I don't expect the poor man to really converse with me in Japanese...half of things I would really want to say about be about BL/moe anyway, and I'm not going to tell him about moe or he'll never shut up about redheads. (It's redheads with him.) So instead we'll stick with "what's your name" and "where are you going" and "where do you work" and "what's that?"

Oh, and there seems to be a partial ハァハァ lying around here...I wonder who that's for? Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

All my pictures end up making me look like death incarnate. ~_~;; You should see my school ID. All I need is glowing red eyes and a dribble of blood on one side of my mouth.

I like the second picture, but yeah, I think the passport people would not approve. XD

I had a good school ID in 9th grade, but the rest were...not so good. Especially the last one. I guess one should expect funny-looking ID pictures.

Heh, thanks. :D

"Oh, speaking of things for otaku, I have revised my plans to include a trip to "Otome Road.""

Definitely awesome~ I want to go there someday :P

From: [identity profile] moumusu.livejournal.com

Ahh, so she's heard of Otome Road. Yes, it'll be great, but I sort of wonder how much FMA stuff they'll have. I'm late to the party here (≡_≡) And Tales stuff is rarer...and I might have to go to Akihabara for game books... Perhaps I'll have to broaden my horizons to things like Bleach and...hahaha...Prince of Tennis...ughhhh...

Gah, it's Pocky! :P

They may or may not complain about the hair near-covering your eyes. What they look for is bone structure and without seeing it printed out as a teeny, wincy, whittle photo I wouldn't be able to advise you on that. We actually asked a customs agent that since Kithal had no beard in the photo, but a beard when traveling, not to mention a difference in weight. Apparently, it didn't distract the agent.

Now remember, when the customs card asks you if your intent for traveling is for terrorist reasons, do not check yes. :P

Ahahahahaha. They ask me, "do you have a bomb?" "yes, from Toraya (http://www.toraya-group.co.jp/english/)...a FLAVOR bomb, that is!!!!!!!"

Well, I hope they like facial structure better, because I don't feel like getting my hair out of my eyes. =_=
