In case there's someone who doesn't know yet, I have been very very excited about Speed Racer. I didn't really give it the same amount of attention that I give Vesperia, but I thought the first trailer was very...exciting. Bright colors! Fast cars! Tension! Power! Rumbling engines and pumping pistons mmmmm etc. (When discussing this with Yang, I called it pornographic.)
I saw it on Saturday and I was very appreciative. Obviously the psychedelic colors are a draw for me. *_* Best part is either crashed cars sparkling and camera flashbulbs turning into pink and purple hearts, YES. But Speed sure is easy on the eyes. Especially when he emerges from his car sweating. Especially when he's wearing his white vinyl jacket. Especially when he looks all serious or frustrated or happy, YES.
So now I come back home and Yang tells me Speed Racer is getting terrible reviews. Apparently reviewers still don't care about anime. :( I can understand their problems with that fucking kid, but that's about it. They're mostly complaining about the colors being too bright, and you can see why this would upset me. One reviewer says the chimp is the best actor. Another says Beowulf's CG was better. You know what I remember about Beowulf? An Angelina Jolie lookalike clothed in nothing but weird gold stuff, and instead of pubes on her crotch she had high heels attached directly to her feet. And she had a tail, and she was always trying to bang someone. It's okay to add that to the story, but they didn't add anything about the queen getting fed up and going out to kill stuff herself, WHICH IS WHAT I REALLY WANTED TO SEE. Awesome. Thanks so much, guys.

Okay, and since I'm too pussy to put this outside of an LJ cut, I'm going to sum up how I feel about like this:
Speed Racer - I came.
Ironically I have downloaded Angelique Neo ABYSS in hopes of watching it and telling my friendslist just how silly I think it is. Advertisement in the publications I read (e.g. Asuka) has proved wrenchingly effective. I've even gone back to the game. Unfortunately Koei and Ruby Party have yet to formulate a guy I like as much as Roy, Ed, or Kratos ._. When am I going to get a game where I can date them?
Also, their game openings kind of embarrass me. (Guys standing around in an open field and looking beautiful! AWESOME.)
EDIT: Angelique Neo ABYSS appears to be the recipient of much reinforcement in the subtext area. Rayne did not live with Nyx before meeting Angelique. Rayne did not see Angelique in her nightie, on a balcony, crying. Rayne probably did have a very messy room, but Nyx never commented on it before, at least not in a way that made me go LOL RAYNE HIDE YOUR PORN BOOKS. And...I don't think I really heard Nyx in the game saying Rayne's name. 「レイン君」と「鋼の」が重なる...

What a lovely OP :3 ...it has only now occurred to me that you might be embarrassed to learn that that video was the last straw for me ._. I have found and bought Summon Night 1 and 2 from eBay. It was money well spent.
I saw Iron Man right before Speed Racer, on the same day. :3 My friend Yang said it was really good so we just saw both. It was good. The suits seemed really heavy and powerful, which I liked, and I have a secret preference for mecha. :3

Just in case, the best FAQ site for the series is Happy Days (if you know it already I apologize), and basically the first two games are broken enough that you can beat them by levelling the heck out of the main character and the partner and ignoring the other guys. XD SN3 is harder, and you've beaten that, so I'm sure you'll have no trouble!
Definitely play the games in order! It makes SN2 so much better that way. Everything's so much bigger and better, and there's all the references. For example, the two wizards at about the 1:09 mark, Gibson and Mimoza, are originally introduced in SN1 but you don't get all that much development about them. But then they reappear in SN2 and you visit their house and you find out how they're
living in sinliving together and doing research and getting mail-order cake by the boxful because Gibson is a sugar junkie. It's glorious. AND they talk about the nice people they met back in the first game. T_TMan I have so many OTPs in SN2. Nesty (male partner)/Toris(female heroine), Folte/Keina (Folte is the green-haired swordsman and Keina is the miko) you can feel the love in her punches! why won't Yesasia list the sequel novel???), Gibson/Mimoza... T_T And I love pretty much all of the cast in SN1... Hayato, Kir, the Flat gang, the knights (the knights in SN1&2 are amazing, I feel like you'd like Shamrock). Awww. I'm grinning just thinking about it.
Actually SN3 has some references back to SN1 with the Mushoku no Habatsu, so that may be enjoyable for you too. :) I just played it going YAY Hayato. Damn I love this game~!
I'm also getting SN Exthesis in the mail soon. Yey :D

It was $50 for 1 and 2, plus shipping. Considering what some important PSX games go for (example: Lunar), I think I got off easy. I heard the games were broken...I heard it from you :DDD but I bought a guide for each one because I really love my SN3 Summoner's Bible. This book was important because it told me a little bit about the characters in the bangaihen...so I know Folte and Keina >:3 Heck, I had them picked out. They're partners, right? But now you say Keina punches him a lot, hm hm very interesting :3 Also, about Shamrock, I remember seeing a picture of him eons ago and thinking, "Hm, kind of want :D" Is he...I don't know if I should ask or just wait until the game. I don't know if I can take it. *_* Is he like Kratos?

Also in my Summoner's Bible was information on the habatsu. I know that Oldreik is somewhere in a previous game. Oh, yeah, and the Japanese wiki has pretty good information about Lindbaum's countries.

Folte and Keina are partners, yes! Folte is very laid-back, I wouldn't say happy-go-lucky, but he tends to get into scrapes and get drunk and chase girls, and he has this broad grin whenever he gets away with anything. Kind of like non-emo Ronfar in a way. Keina is a more responsible sort of person so she finds this aggravating and delivers a PUNCH whenever he overdoes it (so let's say at least once per chapter). Folte then lets out some sort of indistinguishible noise (like Bufu?! Glorp?! etc.) When I list it out like this it sounds very boring, but well, I think it's funny. ._.
Shamrock is.. not really like Kratos! Unless you want to imagine Kratos 4000 years ago and change his personality a bit. Shamrock is a very fine upstanding young knight captain who is VERY SERIOUS and calls Folte Folte-sama. For reasons that are explained in that novel I don't have yet. But in that book, apparently, Toris ends up with Folte. XD Folte apparently used to drag Shamrock into many many scrapes when they were younger. 8D But anyway, Shamrock is very law-abiding and uses keigo and on one occasion you can take him on a date to a festival where he gets drunk on one shot. And is very mortified afterwards.
I personally feel there is some sort of triangle with the cake delivery maid, who is very buxom and smiley (and appears in SN3 apparently XD). ....What are these things I am saying. OTL
Yes, Ordreik and Wizel both come from SN1 :)

The cake maid is Paffel, right? I think she's in the bangaihen in SN3. If she has ninja powers, then I theorize that she's related to Hazel, who is an enemy character in the main game. Also, I think she's played by Yukana? Can't remember.
Ummm...I'm looking forward to SN1 because I can pick a character and a partner. The possibilities are...not endless, but certainly interesting. ...which guy partner is cuter??? :D

Keina would, yeah, but that's just because they don't broadcast their relationship. They're still married XD (so much so that if you confess to either of them, they'll say thank you but their heart was already taken by the other one)
For Paffel and Hazel you should really ask Maiki but.. yeah, IIRC there's a connection XD

...SolKir kinda doesn't work for me because I, er, think they'd be brothers actually. I really haven't seen much Sol but he seems more relaxed, compared to Kir who is very earnest.

Ironman was the kind of movie that I think would have a wide appeal. It was a summer blockbuster, but there was a lot of relevant material re: war weapons morals torture etc. that didn't really ring a bell for me. I kind of preferred the action.
