Cursory update: I am going to Japan next week and I probably won't make another entry for a bit, unless I get bored and hyper the night before...ah, well, I usually do, huh.

I wish I could say this is cathartic but it's not. Right now I'm worried about being fat---with everything else I can just say, oh well, this is fun not work so chill out/dad'll fix it.

Does anybody else worry about traveling as much as I do? I'm sure lots of people do.

Travelling's always stressful. I personally blame customs. ..then again, you're a cute little harmless girl, so they'll let you slide. That's how profiling works, I've gathered.

Other than that, there's the flight.. which I'll give you.. is very very very long. But, you've got your psp! ..not to mention you've got someone to talk to on the flight.. after that, there's always the option of sedation. They still serve liquor on int'l flights, right? ..although, you may be forced to pay for those inky dinky bottles on flight now.

Money.. well, it's just money. You don't have billions of dollars like everyone else out there *pokes Bill Gates*, use the little you have to make your life a little more comfortable and happy.

Another thing to point out is that most people are *very* self-concerned. They're more worried about the image they're presenting to the world than some tourist. Hell, there were so many tourists in Paris, I just learned to block them out after a while. Especially if you hit spots that are heavily touristed, you'll just blend in to the background as part of the ambiance.

Yeah, customs is nasty, too, but I guess they won't be mean to me...I worry that they think I'm a cute harmless girl and thus can be EASILY TORMENTED. And I will have to be fingerprinted when I enter Japan. (Still mad about that...)

I don't worry too much about getting bored on the flight. Uncomfortable, tired, and dehydrated are the things I worry about. Going to the bathroom is such a chore when you have to climb over a stranger! And yet I find it's hard to stay hydrated on a plane without drinking gallons of water :( I'll probably have a hard time sleeping, too.

In Japan they don't really expect white people to behave according to Mystical Japan Rules, and I'll have bigger boobs than 90% of the people I meet, so actually I can get away with a lot, but I still don't like to horrify the natives.

perhaps you should take advantage of the situation! You could use your big boobs in order to find a Japanese boyfriend! ..and you wouldn't even need to know the mystical rules, 'cause of your foreign-ness!

About the fingerprints, do you think it's because the Japanese are trying to fight back because of the American policies? (We now require biometric passports just for entry..) "Let's match their stupid, with some stupid of our own!"

It's complicated. I think it happened as a result of slavish mimicry of the US after 9/11, given force by conservatives who want to make life harder for entering foreigners. Certainly it can't stop native citizens from going into Akihabara on a busy day and killing people. :|
